We delved into the issue faced by cyclists in the country on the perils faced by them through interviews conducted in this investigative report, interviewing several individuals who are considered important to give their views on the matter.

Cycling has recently seen a resurgence in popularity on Malaysian roads, particularly for sports and leisure. Accidents and injuries are unavoidable with cyclists on the roads. Although data suggests that the numbers are steadily declining. So, why do accidents continue to occur?

To further understand what cyclist faced, two avid cyclists shared their experience and shed light on the plight they are faced with.

We seeked the opinion of experts to lend their thoughts on the matter, and possible way for cyclist and other road users and every other party affected to navigate out of this matter.

With all the cyclists on the roads, accidents and injuries are bound to happen, but these numbers are seeing a steady decline over the years.

Statistics from the Ministry of Transport shows that over a 10-year period from 2009 to 2019, accident rates involving bicycles on the road are decreasing, and so is the rate of injuries and deaths.
​
The drop in numbers also coincided with initiatives on opening up more infrastructure like bicycle lanes in large cities across the nation.
